Happy Thursday Saints.
Jesus said in John 8:44 that the devil “DOES NOT STAND IN THE TRUTH, BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRUTH IN HIM. WHEN HE SPEAKS A LIE, HE SPEAKS FROM HIS OWN RESOURCES, FOR HE IS A LIAR AND THE FATHER OF IT.”
As we saw yesterday, we ALREADY have an enemy. He doesn’t need any further help from us, spreading his lies and causing more division.
The devil isn’t just another liar; he is the FATHER of lies. It’s his nature to lie. You could say he’s the liar or all liars – the worst of them all.
You and I, on the other hand, we are children of God and we are encouraged to KNOW THE TRUTH.
Not only will God’s truth set us free from sin’s power, but it will keep us from being deceived by the enemy.
Truth isn’t just something that we know or speak – it’s also something that we DO. 1John 3:18 says, “LET US NOT LOVE WITH WORDS OR SPEECH BUT WITH ACTIONS AND IN TRUTH.”
3John 1:3 mentions those who are faithful and “WALKING IN TRUTH.”
So you see, truth is something that we DO. How is your truth WALK?
The father of lies wants Christians to think that knowledge is enough – that we aren’t required to WALK in it or do what it says.
If we find ourselves trying to find more reasons to justify our disobedience instead of trying to strengthen our devotion to God and His Written Word – then we are being deceived by the father of lies.
If we believe the devil’s lies that God’s Word is legalistic and restrictive – then we won’t be able to experience the freedom that comes from WALKING IN TRUTH.
1John 5:3 says that “LOVING GOD MEANS KEEPING HIS COMMANDMENTS, AND HIS COMMANDMENTS ARE NOT BURDENSOME.”
Not only is God’s Word NOT burdensome, but walking in it is one of the keys to total freedom.
Saints, enjoy the freedom that comes with knowing God’s liberating truth and WALKING IN IT.
