LETTING GO TO PRESS ON
Philippians 3:13 “Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead…”
Philippians 3 records the Apostle Paul reflecting on his life in Christ while writing from prison. Having listed his former religious achievements and sufferings, Paul declares that none of them define him anymore. His single pursuit is to know Christ fully and to press on toward the calling God has set before him. “Forgetting” doesn’t mean erasing memory, but refusing to let the past—good or bad—govern present obedience.
Not everything from the past year belongs in the new one. Some burdens must be laid down. Some disappointments released. Some successes, too, must not define us more than Christ does.
Today’s verse reminds us that spiritual progress requires a focused approach. Letting go isn’t denial—it is trust. Trust that God is not finished, and that His purposes extend beyond what has already been.
As 2026 approaches, ask the Lord what needs to be surrendered. What attitudes, fears, or distractions are holding you back? God makes room for new work by freeing our hands from old weight.
Prayer:
Father, I release to You what no longer belongs in my future. Teach me to press forward with faith, freedom, and focus on You alone. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Have a fabulous day. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
