The two man race was between Lealailepule and FAST Party candidate, Paloa Louis James Stowers.
Next year in 2026 it will be Lealailepule’s 20th year as a veteran politician.
The HRPP party secretary has come under a lot of public scrutiny, being falsely accused of a hit and run in April 2021.

Lealailepule was one of the youngest Chief Executive Officers of Government, when he held the position of CEO for the Samoa Airport Authority while he was just in his 30s.
Lealailepule was a founding member of the Tautua Party before he joined the HRPP.
