FAST Party leader, Susuga Laʻaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt, has secured the Gagaifomauga 3 seat with ease.

Laaulialemalietoa is the son of former Government Minister and founding member of the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) Polataivao Fosi Schmidt.

He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly as a candidate for the HRPP at the 2006 election.

From 2006 to 2011 he served as Deputy Speaker. He was re-elected at the 2011 election and served as Speaker from 2011 to 2016.

He was again re-elected at the 2016 election and appointed to Cabinet as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Scientific Research.

In 2021, Laauli established the FAST party and led it to an historical win over HRPP, ending it’s 30+ year reign as mostly a one-party state over Samoa.

The Faatuatua i Le Atua Samoa ua Tasi party candidates are leading in several constituencies as preliminary results of Samoa’s general election continue to come in.

FAST Deputy Chair, Hon Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesemo has won the Falealili 1 seat, and Masinalupe Makesi has secured Lefaga and Faleaseela.

Ale Vena Ale has also secured the Faleata 4 seat with a solid win over HRPPs Pepe Christian Fruean and SUPs Mapu Tafaigata Toilolo.

However, Speaker of the House Papalii Lio Taeu Masipau seems to have lost the Faasaleleaga 2 seat to HRPPs Namulauulu Sami Leota.
