Happy Thursday Saints.
Galatians 5:13-14 “YOU, MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS, WERE CALLED TO BE FREE. BUT DO NOT USE YOUR FREEDOM TO INDULGE THE FLESH; RATHER, SERVE ONE ANOTHER HUMBLY IN LOVE. FOR THE ENTIRE LAW IS FULFILLED IN KEEPING THIS ONE COMMAND: ‘LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF.'”
Now that we’ve established from the Bible that we are saved by grace through faith alone, are we free to continue transgressing and yielding to the indulgences of the flesh?
NO – The Apostle Paul tells the Church in Galatia to use their new-found freedom to SERVE ONE ANOTHER.
We are saved by grace through faith, but even though our spirit has been renewed, we still have our old mindset and fallen flesh to contend with.
Our FREEDOM is from the Mosaic Law that would oppress and crush the spirit, but it’s not from the unrenewed mind or flesh.
We know from Romans 12 that our mind needs RENEWING, and our body must be presented to God as a LIVING SACRIFICE. These can be done with the help of the Holy Spirit and the washing of the Word.
Our new-found freedom liberates us to be inspired and empowered by the Holy Spirit. If we try to place ourselves under the burden of the law, we will fail over and over again.
Under the law, we cannot live for God. But with FREEDOM in Christ, we can. When we allow God’s Spirit to influence and affect us, we can do the opposite of what’s forbidden in the law.
As you walk in the Spirit, He will empower you to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF, and in so doing, you’ll fulfil THE ENTIRE LAW.
What could not be done under the constraints and limitations of the law, can now be accomplished by God’s strengthening grace and Spirit.
You are now FREE to love because you have the God of love living inside your heart.
Have a love-filled day. God bless, and lots’a love,
Warren.
