Happy Thursday Saints.
Galatians 6:17 “FROM NOW ON, LET NO ONE CAUSE ME TROUBLE, BECAUSE I BEAR ON MY BODY, SCARS FOR THE CAUSE OF JESUS.”
The Apostle Paul had suffered great persecution for the sake of the Gospel. He knew that salvation was by faith alone, in Christ alone, and by grace alone.
The Apostles considered it an honour to suffer for the sake of the Gospel. In Acts 5, the Sanhedrin “HAD THEM FLOGGED. THEN THEY ORDERED THEM NOT TO SPEAK IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND LET THEM GO. THE APOSTLES LEFT THE SANHEDRIN REJOICING, BECAUSE THEY HAD BEEN COUNTED WORTHY OF SUFFERING DISGRACE FOR THE NAME.” (vs 40-41)
The Judaizers in Galatia were afraid of being persecuted, and it was one of the reasons why they pushed for a works-based salvation. But Paul wasn’t moved by the overzealous false teachers or the persecutions and beatings that came with preaching the truth of God’s grace in Christ.
We may not suffer the same persecution for preaching about the grace of God and His free gift of salvation, but we do need to have the same conviction of the truth.
Paul would rather be free to follow Christ than be bound by the Mosaic Laws. His Master was JESUS, and he served Him gladly because of God’s overwhelming love and grace towards sinners.
Paul’s “SCARS” were due to his love for Jesus and his faith in His completed work for the salvation of mankind.
The Judiazers’ circumcision was due to a lack of faith in all that Christ achieved. They were too blind to see that if they were obligated to be circumcised in order to be saved, that they would need to keep ALL the other Mosaic Laws too.
Saints, “IT IS FOR FREEDOM THAT CHRIST HAS SET US FREE. STAND FIRM THEN, AND DO NOT LET YOURSELVES BE BURDENED AGAIN BY A YOKE OF SLAVERY.” (Galatians 5:1)
Have a wonderful day of FREEDOM in Christ. God bless, and lots’a love,
Warren
