As Samoa prepares for its first virtual Independence Celebration, the Samoa Met Service has issued Severe Weather Information No.1 to advise that:

WIND ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFECT FOR SOUTHERN PARTS AND HIGHLANDS… and  SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT

“An intense high pressure to the South of Samoa directs a moist and fresh to strong northeast winds across Samoa. The fresh to strong winds is expected to reach the wind advisory threshold and elevates swell heights to above the threshold. This warrants the issue of the Wind and Small Craft Advisory”.

Potential Impacts:

Poor visibility during showers, strong and gusty winds and rough seas.
