Message from the Samoa Minister of Tourism.
“Hosting the XVI Pacific Games 2019 is a great sporting and historical moment for our small Pacific Island country of Beautiful Samoa.
The Pacific Games is more than just a sports competition.
With more than 4,000 athletes traveling over from 24 Games nations, it is about people – the athletes, the coaches, the officials and millions of supporters all around the world watching these Games.
As we welcome our guests this week to our shores, I urge all our people to showcase our friendly and unique culture with our faa-Samoa or the Samoanway.
It is with that respect that I humbly ask our Tourism Industry, to kindly provide your usual support and customary hospitality as we host this prestigious event over the coming weeks from the 7th to the 20th of July.
“E mamae le tavae i ona fulu.”
E faapena foi ona faamemelo le Samoa i ana tu ma agaifanua pe a tali malo.
Tourism is everyone’s responsibility, and in keeping with our national efforts of beautifying Samoa, I encourage all to be in your finest attires and bring out your most paramount hospitality in welcoming our visitors.
Let’s show the world why we are the treasured Islands of the Pacific, and let our guests leave with a treasured and lasting experience.
I further acknowledge the unyielding efforts of our Tourism Industry members, communities and business partners, whom I have faith will provide the finest of services for our guests.
Let us all unite as ‘One in Spirit’ in providing the greatest ever Pacific Games, and wishing everyone the very best.
I also wish our athletes the very best – make us all proud.
Ia alofagia e le Tapaau Sili lo tatou faamoemoe.
SOIFUA.
