The active convergence zone continues to linger within our forecast zone and is generating thunderstorms and heavy falls in the vicinity of the group. The risk for flooding is elevated through the night as more precipitation is observed. Strong wind gusts are possible during showers at some areas. The above advisories and warnings remain valid over Land and over Water for the next 12 hours.

Potential impacts: Poor visibility, foggy and slippery roads over mountain passes, pooling near roadsides and waterways. Strong and gusty winds at times. Possible river overflows and landslides. Very rough seas.

A volcanic eruption occurred within the Tongan Region, on Saturday 15th January at 5:26 pm (Samoa Local Time)

Tsunami advisory remains in effect for all Samoa’s coastal areas.

Due to unpredictable nature of this event, the public is therefore advised to take extra precautions when attending coastal activities for safety until further notice.
