Happy Thursday Saints.
Galatians 4:5-7 “GOD SENT HIM TO BUY FREEDOM FOR US… SO THAT HE COULD ADOPT US AS HIS VERY OWN CHILDREN. AND BECAUSE WE ARE HIS CHILDREN, GOD HAS SENT THE SPIRIT OF HIS SON INTO OUR HEARTS, PROMPTING US TO CALL OUT ‘ABBA FATHER.’ NOW YOU ARE NO LONGER A SLAVE BUT GOD’S OWN CHILD. AND SINCE YOU ARE HIS CHILD, GOD HAS MADE YOU HIS HEIR.”
As we saw on Tuesday, the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence within you is a guarantee of God’s acceptance of you.
You haven’t just been accepted, IN CHRIST, you’ve been adopted. Christ fulfilled the law and did everything that was legally required to make you GOD’S OWN CHILD.
The Holy Spirit is like the stamp of approval on your adoption papers.
The Wuest translation says “BECAUSE YOU ARE SONS, GOD SENT FORTH THE SPIRIT OF HIS SON INTO YOUR HEARTS CRYING, ABBA MY FATHER.”
I love the intimacy of the Wuest translation. As GOD’S OWN CHILD, you can call out to Him as Abba “MY” Father.
Abba is an intimate term that means “Daddy” or “Papa.” And your acceptance and adoption mean that you can confidently call God “MY Father”, “MY Papa”, “MY Daddy”, “MY Abba.”
It’s an indication of the intimate relationship that our Heavenly Father wants to have with you. He sent Jesus for YOU. Not so that you can join a religion, but rather become a part of His very own family.
If you consider the drastic lengths that Jesus went through so that the Father could legally adopt you, you’d know that you’re not just loved, but also WANTED.
Take a moment to thank “YOUR” Abba Father and enjoy the intimacy that He longs to share with you today.
