Happy Monday Saints.
As we continue our look at Colossians 3:12, the next trait on the list for God’s chosen people to clothe themselves with is “HUMILITY.”
1Peter 5:5 says, “CLOTHE YOURSELVES, ALL OF YOU, WITH HUMILITY TOWARD ONE ANOTHER, FOR GOD OPPOSES THE PROUD BUT GIVE GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.”
No one is exempt from having to deal with pride. “ALL” of us have to make sure that we are clothing ourselves with HUMILITY on a regular basis.
1Peter 5:5 says that we must have humility “TOWARD ONE ANOTHER.” It’s when we are dealing with others that we are most tempted to be lifted up in pride.
It takes humility to be gracious and forgiving; to be kind to someone who is being spiteful; to bless those who curse you; to prefer others before yourself; to serve; to listen attentively to someone else’s point of view; to be teachable and correctable; to admit when you’re wrong; to apologise to others; to be vulnerable; to be slow to anger; to be patient, and to mourn with those who mourn and rejoice with those who rejoice.
Whenever we deal with people, God expects us to clothe ourselves with humility.
Proverbs 13:10 says that “BY PRIDE COMES NOTHING BUT STRIFE.” There is no unity, peace or harmony without humility. For two or more people to live and work together effectively – humility is required.
At the heart of strife, division, gossip, backstabbing, resentment or anything that causes any hostility is PRIDE. It causes nothing but harm.
But God’s grace is readily available for the humble. And His grace is sufficient for anything that we may have to face in life.
Have a fantastic week. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
