Establishing a career pathway and keeping the youth from being led astray are the main objectives of SSAB’s ongoing support for the Moamoa Roosters Sports Club.
The company announced its continoued support for the club earlier this week. The donation of ten thousand tala was presented to the Acting President of the club, Tevaga Viane Tagi’ilima and Treasurer Fainu’ulelei James Ah Wai.
“We praise God for enabling us to be a blessing to others especially to our village’s sports club,” said CEO Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai.
Over the years, the Moamoa Roosters has produced great players for the Manu Samoa, Junior Manu Samoa and captivated the United Kingdom’s Saracens Club who signed Theo MacFarland, a former star player of the Moamoa Roosters.
“Theo MacFarland has been an inspiration to the youth of our village and across our country. We continue to support this platform because we also want our players to get contracts to play for renowned clubs overseas like Theo”, said CEO Tofilau.
CEO Tofilau and General Counsel Tuatagaloa Ming Leung Wai were extremely happy when Treasurer Fainu’ulelei James announced that four players from the Moamoa Roosters have signed with two prestigious clubs namely Morrinsville Rugby Club in New Zealand and Drummoyne Rugby Club in Australia. The first pair are expected to leave the country by the end of next month with the remaining players to depart in March.
“As your Major Sponsor these are the results that we always pray and hope for. We want the youth of our village to get contracts so they can enhance their sport, talent and give back to their families and Samoa”, said Tuatagaloa.
This year marks the 7th year since SSAB came on board to back the Moamoa Roosters and according to the Acting President of the Club, Tevaga Viane Tagi’ilima the company has never failed whenever the club calls for help.
“We are grateful for your continuous support for our village’s rugby team Tofilau Fiti and Tuatagaloa Aumua Ming. We are aware that SSAB’s support is not limited to the Moamoa Roosters but also other rugby teams, sports organisations and schools”, said Tevaga.
The Moamoa Roosters Sports Club is one of the few clubs that has taken the initiative to start the grassroots development program for their youth.
CEO Tofilau is pleased that the Executive of the Moamoa Rooster shares the same heart and goal as SSAB which is, to give back to the community.
“Thank you Acting President Tevaga and Treasurer Muliagatele Fainu’ulelei James Ah Wai for your hard work in coordinating and developing our sports club. The more voluntary work you do, the more blessings you, your children and family will receive”, said CEO Tofilau.
In addition to SSAB’s donation, the company continues to provide employment opportunities for rugby players of the Moamoa Roosters.
CEO Tofilau Fiti and General Counsel Tuatagaloa are residents of Moamoa and dedicated supporters of the village’s Sports Club.
