Happy Friday from beautiful Aotearoa. It’s good to be back in the Land of the Long White Cloud.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, “COME TO ME, ALL WHO LABOUR AND ARE HEAVY LADEN, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST. TAKE MY YOKE UPON YOU AND LEARN FROM ME, FOR I AM GENTLE AND LOWLY IN HEART, AND YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. FOR MY YOKE IS EASY, AND MY BURDEN IS LIGHT.”
We are surrounded by systems, networks, strategies, technologies and apps that are supposed to make things easier and more efficient. They’re supposed to save us a lot of time.
And yet, it seems like people have less time, are more stressed and are always in a hurry these days. We seem to be busier than ever.
Jesus promised all who labour and are heavy laden, “REST.”
When we are genuinely yoked with Christ – we shouldn’t be running around like crazy, feeling restless and overwhelmed. He said that His yoke is EASY, and His burden is LIGHT.
Christ wouldn’t put so much on your plate that you wouldn’t have time for Him, your spouse (if you’re married), your children, your family and your loved ones. He wouldn’t overwhelm you with so much to do that you become emotionally and physically exhausted.
When’s the last time you experienced Christ’s peace and REST? When’s the last time you spent some quality time with the Lord? And we are not including the quick 2-minute prayer in the car while you’re rushing off to work either.
Who or what are you yoked to? The answer will determine your current situation and experience. A gentle and lowly Jesus wants to give you His EASY yoke and LIGHT burden.
Saints, it’s OK to slow down, get your breath back, realign yourself with the Lord, centre yourself and stop being in such a mad rush.
