Thursday 18 May 2023 Apia Samoa, Translated from FaaSamoa. A fatal car accident in Tapatapao yesterday afternoon has claimed the life of a 19 year-old-girl.

Deputy Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti says police are still investigating the cause of the single car crash that saw the vehicle veer off the side of the road.
Papali’i says Police and FESA emergency services were alerted at around 4pm yesterday.
The driver has been identified as a male from Fusi Safotulafai and Manono.
Papalii confirms, there were three passengers in the vehicle including the deceased.
All passengers were rushed to Motootua National Hospital, however, the young girl had suffered severe head injuries.
Papalii confirms the driver has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.
“Drivers are once again reminded to exercise caution and be more aware of road safety at all times,” warns the Deputy Police Commissioner.
Papalii also warned all drivers to please refrain from driving while under the influence of alcohol.
