A fatal car accident along the stretch to the Afulilo dam going up towards Tiavea, has claimed the life of a 51 year old father who works at the Ministry of Health as a telephone operator.
The deceased was travelling with his family when their landcruiser lost control causing the vehicle to flip.
Police Commissioner Su’a Fuiavailiili Egon Keil said there were 4 other family members in the car including two girls aged 14 and 16, a 19 year old boy and their Mom.
Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Tanuvasa Petone Mauga says FESA’s first response team was dispatched upon receiving a call from Lalomanu Police on Monday afternoon.
“Our team secured the scene and unfortunately one person died at the scene”, confirms Tanuvasa.
The FESA Commissioner says members of the public had already taken other passengers to the Lalomanu hospital.
“Police arrived and we handed over the scene for further investigation”.
Deputy Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo says it is believed the family were rushing someone to the hospital when the accident happened.
