Happy Monday Saints.
In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus spoke about the seed that was “SOWN ON STONY GROUND.”
He explained in Mark 4:16-17 that they were like people who “HEAR THE WORD, IMMEDIATELY RECEIVE IT WITH GLADNESS; AND THEY HAVE NO ROOT IN THEMSELVES, AND SO ENDURE ONLY FOR A TIME. AFTERWARD, WHEN TRIBULATION OR PERSECUTION ARISES FOR THE WORD’S SAKE, IMMEDIATELY THEY STUMBLE.”
Bible truths are not merely intended to make us glad or get us excited.
Getting excited about what you’ve read in the Bible or heard at Church is not enough. You have to meditate on God’s Word until it takes ROOT inside your heart.
Those who don’t let the Word of God take root inside their hearts, ENDURE ONLY FOR A TIME.
Their excitement lasts only for a little while, but the moment things get difficult, they let go of the Word that they heard and STUMBLE.
The Greek word for “tribulation” in the above passage also means trouble, affliction, distress or pressure. When they make us lose our excitement or the gladness that we had after hearing God’s Word, we must be careful not to stumble.
When you’re under pressure or faced with trouble – draw closer to God and hold on to His Word. Let the tension cause you to lock in your feet and stand firm on God’s Promises.
Our outward circumstances are constantly changing, but God’s Word remains the same. Let it stabilise you and anchor your emotions.
With the right heart, God’s Word can help you overcome any tribulation or persecution that arises for the Word’s sake.
Have a great week. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
