In the spirit of Christmas, Digicel Samoa blessed two more community groups who had earlier this year applied for the Digicel Go Big Community Grant.
The Vaovai Primary School in the Falealili district, and the Satitoa Catholic Church at Aleipata were visited by Digicel management and staff in their respective villages to present the lovingly wrapped gifts.
Digicel Chairman, Pepe Fiaailetoa Christian Fruean himself made the presentations to the Vaovai Primary School and the Satitoa Catholic Church.
“I am humbled and thrilled to see our community bringing forward great ideas with the focus on helping with the development of their villages, families and churches. Moreover, voicing their choices and concerns on how and what they need to make their communities better. We have been doing more community based projects with the objective to impact and change the lives of our people,” says Pepe Fia’ailetoa Christian Fruean.
“It is that time of year where hearts are turned towards home and the joy in it for us, is to see the Christmas spirit rise for our people and delighting them.”
Vaovai Primary School now has 3 brand new tents, 5 desktop computers and 4 solar lights. The submission was entered by Sara Aleaga Fiva, a parent who requested specifically for the items to help out with their school programs and studies as well as the safety of the compound.
“We are truly grateful for these gifts you have given for the school as well as your presence here today Pepe and your team. We’ve been trying to source funds for these items and we are so humbled to have received the call that our request was successful. Faafetai tele lava, may God bless you Pepe, your wonderful Digicel team and their families” says Pologa Tuisamoa, teacher at Vaovai Primary School.
The Satitoa Catholic Church received 3 brand new electric sewing machines. The submission was entered by the Deacon and his wife, Rev Ameto and Aukusitina. Both requested specifically for the items as a tool to effectively develop sewing skills for the young men and women in their church, to prepare them should they consider this as a career option to earn a steady income for their families.
“Our Mafutaga a Tina will lead our programs in January for basic skills in sewing and to start with school uniforms, clothing, and more.
Faafetai tele lava Digicel for your consideration and for your community outreach programs, the gifts you have presented for us today will render a steady income for families and shape up our women to be skillful individuals.” says Reverand Ameto.
Digicel’s Big On Community Project initiative has awarded and named $64,000 tala worth of community grants.
There will be a follow up in the next three months for Vaovai Primary School and Satitoa Catholic Church to check on how each of the Go Big Community projects are progressing.
