Apia, Samoa – Friday, 17th June 2022. Digicel Samoa is pleased to launch a partnership with Samoa Business Hub (SBH) to enable MyCash remote loan repayments via the Digicel MyCash mobile wallet; boosting the digital lifestyle experience for customers and making cashless and digital financial transactions more accessible with a mobile phone.

SBH is committed to providing financing support for small businesses and this partnership with Digicel Samoa will provide SBH customers an easy, safe and convenient option to make repayments from anywhere in Samoa. MyCash can be used anytime, anywhere.

All SBH customers’ need is a Digicel SIM and balance in their mobile wallet to get started.

Digicel’s MyCash mobile wallet (formerly known as Digicel mobile money) lets Samoans keep money stored safely and securely when they deposit money at any MyCash Agent or Digicel Store, receive remittance from overseas, buy Top Up, pay for shopping with contactless payment, transfer money to another MyCash user and make secure bill or business payments.

“SBH values the role of technology in business development,” said Samoa Business Hub CEO, Vaitulia Alatina Ioelu.

“This partnership with Digicel Samoa, to utilise the MyCash service to support access to finance for SMEs could not have come at a better time.”

Vaitulia said SBH continues to support its customers to keep up with the fast-evolving trading landscape.

“Our geographic isolation, infancy technology in payment systems, coupled with the negative impacts of COVID19, have greatly affect our SMEs’ growth,” said Vaitulia.

“With the support of platforms such as Digicel’s MyCash, SBH can better support access to business financing by reducing transaction costs, travel costs and improving their capacity to save,” he added.

Digicel Samoa CEO, Seiuli Deepak Khanna, said; “Growing our network and continuing to improve our customer experience as a Digital Operator continues to be Digicel Samoa’s main objective. This partnership with SBH allows us to drive financial inclusion and access for Samoans across the country, and also let MyCash be the preferred safe and contactless digital payment platform of choice.”

“With the recent lockdowns, it is evident that digital options and mediums are the way to go with the added benefit of minimising traveling cost and saving time travelling to Apia.  We continue to work on signing more partnerships and implementing our MyCash network growth and pipeline in the coming months,” added Seiuli.

Head of Digicel Mobile Financial Services, Anup Kumar, said; “Making transactions on MyCash is simple, contactless and safe. Enabling SBH customers to access a secure repayment platform with our Digicel MyCash service is another key milestone in our endeavour to create a trusted and secure financial service for the everyday Samoan to use.”

The MyCash mobile wallet app is available at no cost to download, and it’s zero-rated, so it won’t consume data from the customer’s plan when using it.

For new and existing MyCash customers wanting to ensure that their MyCash account details match SIM ownership registration or needing assistance with their 4-digit PIN code, they can reach out to the Digicel Customer Care team, who are ready to assist with any questions on Ruby Live Chat or via direct message on the Digicel Samoa Facebook page.
