Methodist Church Minister Tugia Tuliau faces 10 charges relating to sexual violation of a young girl who had been under his care while serving in the village of Satalo, Falealili.
Tuliau appeared before the Supreme Court of Samoa yesterday to respond to 1 charge of rape, 7 charges if sexual connection with a family member and two charges of indecent acts on a defendent who is a family member.
The Court ordered name suppression for the victim but not for the accused.
Tuliau is still on bail and did not plead yesterday, requesting more time to consult with his lawyer, Leiataualesa Komisi Koria.
Tuliau was reminded to comply with his bail conditions and preside with his family at Vaimoso and not to return to where the victim lives.
He was also warned against making any contact with the victim or prosecution witnesses.
The matter will be recalled next week 11 November 2019 where the former church minister who has since resigned from the Church, is expected to enter a plea.
