Translated from FaaSamoa. The case of a 15 year old school girl who had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a taxi driver is before the Supreme Court of Samoa.

The incident was first reported in 2024 at the time of the offending. When the young girl was eventually found, she had been drugged and sexually assaulted. Her attacker had also cut off her long hair.

At the time of the incident, the victim’s step-mom had told the story of frantically driving around with the victim’s mom and aunty to look for their daughter.

A friend of their daughter had noted the license plate of the taxi which eventually led to the victim being found in a manioca plantation at Siusega.

“When we found her she was lying on the ground. When we lifted her up she couldn’t stand on her own. She looked disoriented and dazed. Her long hair had been cut off..”

“Her mother just held her and couldn’t stop crying..”

The two mom’s took their daughter, first to the police station, and then to Motootua national hospital where she was admitted for treatment.

Faataualofa Taefu, 44, of Siufaga Falelatai, is facing multiple charges for the kidnapping and attack.

The case is currently before Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma in the Supreme Court of Samoa.

However, struggles faced by the Office of the Attorney General working at just 50% capacity became real when on Monday, the Prosecutor leading the case was not available.

Justice Fepuleai advised the Office of the Attorney General to seek another Prosecutor for the case.

“Afai ua lē avanoa le tamaitai loia sa ia tauavea le mataupu, saili se isi loia.”

The case has been adjourned to the 27th of October 2025.

The young survivor is under the care of the Samoa Victim Support Group to await the completion of the trial and court procedures.
