BSP Southern Tornadoes have secured their first win in a narrow 10-5 match against the Savaii Warriors in Palauli today.
The Savaii Warriors fought hard in heavy rain and a muddy field to hold the match without points for the first half.
“Uili had played in the backline but we were short of forwards and with his physique and build I decided to teach him how to play in the front row”, said Head Coach Lepale Niko Palamo.
The Savaii Warriors discipline got the better of them with 2 yellow cards and a red card, and BSP Tornadoes capitalised by securing a penalty early in the second half.
With 20 minutes to go Togipo Iamanu of BSP Tornadoes charged down the opposition attack and gathered the ball to score under the post. Togipo then converted his own try to make it 10-0.
Savaii Warrirors fought back to score a try in the dying minutes to bring the final score to 10-5.
