Apia, Samoa | Tuesday 01 September 2026. BSP Samoa celebrated the official opening of its new Matautu Branch, on Monday 31 August with an intimate ceremony led by Rev Elisaia Kolia of CCCS Matautu Uta who blessed the new branch in the presence of BSP Management and staff.
The opening marks an important milestone in BSP Samoa’s commitment to improving customer access and enhancing service delivery across its branch network.
Speaking at the opening, BSP Samoa Country Head, Tunumafono Jennifer Ula-Fruean, said the new branch provides much-needed additional capacity following the fire incident that affected the Vaitele Branch resulting in increased customer traffic at the Main Branch.
“The opening of our Matautu Branch is an important investment in our customers and our community,” said Tunumafono.
“Customer traffic at our Main Branch increased significantly after the fire incident at our Vaitele Branch. This new branch provides additional capacity to better serve our customers, reduce waiting times and improve access to banking services..
“It also reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding access to banking services and supporting communities across Samoa.”
A highlight of the opening ceremony was the ribbon-cutting by Epeli Racule, the project lead for the establishment of the new branch.
The occasion marked the culmination of his remarkable 41 years of dedicated service to BSP, concluding a distinguished career with the Bank on 31 August 2026.
Ms Ula-Fruean acknowledged Mr Racule’s significant contribution to the successful delivery of the Matautu Branch and thanked him for his commitment and leadership throughout the project.
Ms Ula-Fruean said the Matautu Branch strengthens BSP Samoa’s service network and demonstrates the Bank’s continued investment in improving customer access and convenience.
“Matautu Branch represents the hard work and dedication of many people across our organisation and provides customers with another convenient location to access our services.
‘As we continue plans for the future construction of a new Vaitele Branch, this investment strengthens our service network and reinforces our commitment to delivering accessible, reliable and convenient banking services to the people of Samoa.”
The Matautu Branch is now offering a full range of banking services including retail lending, general teller services, new account opening, international transfers and MoneyGram services.
The branch is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 3.30pm and is closed on Saturdays.
