In support of the Samoa Cancer Society’s annual Pinktober event, Bank South Pacific Samoa incorporated this event with its Staff Health & Safety Program for the month of October, focusing on cancer awareness.
BSP staff incorporated cancer awareness and fundraising initiatives alongside its staff activities for each business unit, with all proceeds collected donated to the Samoa Cancer Society for the important work that they do.
Samoa Cancer Society were also invited to run an awareness workshop to all staff on the Friday 21st October 2022. The SCS team delivered key messages on the crucial early detection and preventative measures, as well as self-assessments which staff and individuals can undertake.
All 101 staff members of BSP joined the SCS awareness team in the morning for an excellent demonstration and presentation.
Following the awareness, BSP Country Head Samoa, Jennifer Ula-Fruean presented the Samoa Cancer Society with a total cash contribution of $4,500.00 tala, being the total funds raised by bank staff initiatives.
The BSP Country Head Samoa said the bank hopes to continue its assistance and working relationship with the Samoa Cancer Society to support continued awareness programs like this.
of the $4,500 presented, the Retail team raised $2,000 tala from staff across the three main branches selling seis and cupcakes while Finance and Operations raised $1,000 from the sale of pink ribbons.
“We hope that our humble sponsorship of $4,500 aids the Samoa Cancer Society with their fundraising efforts to support those in need and especially for driving more awareness and support programs to our communities,” said Jennifer Ula-Fruean.
