
Saturday 7 January 2023. Bad weather has caused disruptions to the interisland ferry service between Upolu and Savaii as advised by the Samoa Shipping Corporation in a public notice.
“Please be informed that our ferry services between Salelologa and Mulifanua will not operate as per scheduled times commencing today 7th January 2023 due to bad weather conditions.”

In its latest weather report issued Saturday 5th January at 5am, the Samoa Meteorological Services confirms heavy falls of rain with strong and gusty winds continue to impact Samoa with an active convergence zone remaining within the vicinity

“These severe weather conditions are expected to persist for today and thus increasing the risk and frequency of flooding and landslides in prone areas as prolonged rainfall has been occurring..
“The aforementioned strong winds may continue to generate high waves and swells over Samoa’s marine waters for today. Accordingly, all the Warnings and Advisory listed above remain in force for all of Samoa.”
⚠️Potential Impacts:
Heavy downpours with poor visibility, foggy and slippery roads over mountain passes and ranges, pooling near roadsides and waterways. Flooding and landslides are possible. Expect strong and gusty winds at times. Strong currents and rough seas.
The next severe weather information will be issued at 5:00 pm Saturday by the Samoa Met Office.
