Avele College Principal is HRPP Candidate for Asaga Village

The school principal of Avele College, Matafeo Seinafolava Lesaisaea Reupena Matafeo was formally registered as a candidate of the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) from the Savaii village of Asaga.

The day was set aside for the HRPP to receive formal registrations of new candidates ahead of the 2021 General Elections.

Matafeo will run from the new Electoral Constituency of Faasaleleaga No.5, competing  against current MP and Associate Minister of the Ministry of Prime Minister and Cabinet (MPMC), Peseta Vaifou Tevaga from the neighboring villages of Lano and Puapua.

Village Representative (VR) Lualua Namulauulu Tautu confirmed that the nomination from the village of Asaga was presented to the HRPP today by Alii and Faipule, and accepted by the HRPP.

According to Lualua Namulauulu, it is an historical event as this would be the first seat holder for the new the electoral consistuency.

The Village Representative confirmed that Matafeo has the complete support of the village of Asaga, and that HRPP is also their preferred choice of political party.

Lualua praised the infrastructural development plans of the government in the past four years and says Asaga has benefitted greatly.

Lualua says their roads were built the year before last, and their new school building was blessed last year.

The village representative says they are HRPP supporters, adding that it is their belief, that development works is a sign of good leadership.

“O le matou la talitonuga o pine ia o taitai lelei o loo taitaia atunuu. O galuega faatino, ma mea vaaia.”

Lualua called on all villagers of Asaga, here in Samoa and abroad, to support the decision of the village.
