2 November 2020 Apia Samoa. Monday morning commuters from the South East coast of Upolu had no problem getting to work and school this morning, with roads that had been flooded on Friday and Saturday completely cleared by the Land Transport Authority, working throughout the weekend.
DMO, FESA and LTA were amongst the first responders to sudden flooding caused by heavy rainfall on Friday afternoon, which continued to Saturday morning.
Authorities attended to assist the public desperate to get home before nightfall through flooded road crossings in the Siumu-Safata-Lefaga areas.

Today, although slightly dusty, all roads which had been blocked and inaccessible due to debris from flooding, were cleared for public access.


The Nuusuatia ford is now also accessible through a temporary single-lane road access built by authorities to allow vehicles to cross over the river.
The Land Transport Authority also attended to clearance work of a landslide at Fagaloa, reporting that vehicles are able to access, but drivers are warned to proceed with caution.
