Congratulations to the Australia Awards Alumni Graduates of 2018

Welcome home 2018 Australia Awards graduates! Australia Award Graduates of 2018 were officially congratulated at a morning tea reception on Wednesday 27 February hosted by the High Commissioner Her Excellency Sara Moriarty, and joined by the Government of Samoa Secretary of the Scholarship Committee Tagaloa Sharon Potoi.

“The High Commission is pleased to be able to host this event to acknowledge the graduate’s successes of studying hard and graduating with vital prerequisites in their specialised fields,” Ms Moriarty said.

“It takes a lot of bravery, sacrifices and commitment—not only from you but also your families, your community and more importantly your country—to live abroad and stay the course.”

The Government of Australia invests approximately AUD4.5 million each year towards scholarships. Through its bilateral partnership with the Government of Samoa, Australia is committed to developing a skilled and knowledgeable workforce in Samoa, especially in key priority areas such as education, health, governance, economic growth, gender and disability.

“Australia continues to support the Government of Samoa’s vision in offering quality and continued education while enhancing our bilateral relationship and facilitating a range of professional networking activities between both countries,” Ms Moriarty said.

“The annual scholarship opportunities for Samoan citizens is a reflection of Australia’s desire for greater people-centered partnership that will support Samoa to achieve better livelihoods and quality of life for its citizens,”

Ms Moriarty extended heartfelt welcome to the graduates who will now become part of the Australian Alumni family.

“I would like to welcome you all to be part of the Australian Alumni family which is an opportunity to expand your professional networks and build lifelong friendships. I hope your experience in Australia has brought you positive memories that will last long after your scholarship has ended. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours,” Ms Moriarty said.
