Apia Maroon Girls Take Out the Cynthia Wetzell Cup of the 34th International Marist 7s

The Apia Maroon women’s team have won the Cynthia Wetzell Cup for the second year in a row.
The Maroons were led by arguably the best women’s player in Samoa, Saelua Seleti, and sponsored by Samoa Commercial Bank.
The back to back Marist 7s winners beat No Idea by 19-0.
No Idea were sponsored by Pacific Aus Sports.
The first try of the match came in the second half with Saelua Seleti going over the tryline to put the first points up on the scoreboard.
Seleti converted her own try to make it 7-0.
Captain extraordinaire then crossed over for a second try after running the length of the field. She then again kicked the conversion to give her side the lead 14-0.
A late try by Maroons before full time ended the women’s final with 19-0 on the scoreboard.
The women’s competition goes from strength to strength every year.
The Marist International 7s promotes inclusion, gender equality and ending violence against women at the annual sporting event.
