American Samoa Donates US$304,208 to Samoa Measles Recovery


American Samoa has donated over US$300,000 dollars to the Government of Samoa to assist with the State of Recovery as a result of the Measles Crisis that has claimed 81 lives to date, most of them children under 4 years of age.

American Samoa Government Lolo Matalasi Letalu Moliga with his Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga presented the donation to Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi in a brief ceremony in the Territory this morning.

In accepting the gift, Prime Minister Tuilaepa extended the Government and Samoa’s humble appreciation for the Territory’s humanitarian generosity.

Accompanying the Prime Minister to American Samoa was his Minister for Information and Communication Technology Afamasaga Rico Tupai, the Director General of Health Leausa Dr. Take Naseri, Chair of the NEOC and CEO of MNRE Ulu Bismarck Crawley, and other senior government officials.
