21 March 2021 Apia Samoa. There were 85 new community cases recorded on Sunday 20th of March, as at 2pm. The latest update takes the total number of active Covid-19 cases in Samoa to 196 including the 15 active imported cases. That means the wave of community transmissions is at 181. 

The Ministry of Health confirms a total of 2,207 tests were carried out, since the 18th of March 2022 in six designated COVID-19 screening sites including those tested in health facilities and district hospitals.  The total 196 recorded cases to date equates to 8.8% of all tested. 

According to the press release, of the 181 active community cases – 62 cases tested positive at the six screening sites, while 119 community transmissions were tested positive from health facilities.

The Red Cross Headquarters at Tuanaimato screening site so far recorded the highest percentage of positive cases at 47% of total positive cases confirmed.

The Ministry of Health states that 428  close contacts have been identified, which are currently being investigated.
