On the theme, “SPA for a greener tomorrow” the Samoa Ports Authority celebrates its silver jubilee of 25 years of service to the people of Samoa this week.

The Authority reflects on its journey from its humble beginnings on the 1st July 1999 when it was formed as a public trading body, mandated to develop and manage Samoa’s main international seaport in Apia, as well as its domestic sea ports in Upolu and Savaii.

Today, 25 years later, it has become a leader in providing green, safe, efficient and effective ports services in Samoa.

Over the years, the Authority stayed true to its vision, of port infrastructure development and continues to develop and maintain safe and climate resilient port infrastructure and services, in compliance with national and international standards, to ensure operational excellence and profitability, in partnership with its stakeholders.

The Authority has also improved on its financial status, achieving a Net Profit consistently since 2017, enabling it to pay dividends to the Government of Samoa, as regulated under the Public Bodies Act 2001.
