Sagauga Leilani Galuvao Appointed CEO of Samoa’s Land Transport Authority

Government Press Secretariat. Sealed by Cabinet approval Wednesday this week, Sagauga Leilani Galuvao has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Land Transport Authority for the next three years.

Sagauga was recommended by a unanimous decision of the Selection Panel, from amongst five shortlisted applicants.

Sagauga’s appointment to lead one the largest State Owned Enterprises in Samoa comes after close to three decades of dedication to the public service.

An alumni of Samoa College and the University of Auckland, New Zealand, Sagauga brings a wealth of experience to the role. She moves across from the Ministry of Works Transport and Infrastructure, where she held the role of Assistant CEO – responsible for regulating the Land Transport subsector for the past nine years.

Sagauga is a matai of the village of Apia with roots in Avao, Faleula and Sasina.

Sagauga now holds the position previously held by her elder brother, Tuiletufuga Leasi John Galuvao – who had been the first CEO of LTA – when the Government moved to privatize the provision of transport services and infrastructure for improved efficiency in 2009.

Sagauga takes over the leadership of Samoa’s Land and Transport Authority from Galumalemana Taatiaoleitiiti, who held the position from 2018 until her resignation in 2023 due to family obligations.
