Renewed MOU Strengthens Partnership between NUS and Massey University

Apia, Samoa| Monday 31st August 2026 The National University of Samoa and Massey University have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), reaffirming their commitment to strengthening academic cooperation, professional development, and exchange opportunities for staff and students.

The renewed partnership was formalised through a signing ceremony at the NUS campus.

The agreement was signed by Professor Tuifuisa’a Dr Patila Amosa, NUS Vice Chancellor and President, and Massey University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Pierre Venter.

Under the renewed MoU, NUS and Massey University will explore opportunities for
academic and staff exchanges, and joint research initiatives.

Knowledge sharing, professional development, and collaborative teaching and learning activities are also part of the MOU objectives.

“The partnership will also support the development of initiatives that contribute to the advancement of higher education and research in Samoa and the wider Pacific.”

The collaboration builds on previous engagement between the two universities.

Massey University has previously worked with NUS academics on research and teaching initiatives, including collaboration in applied linguistics and academic programme development.

Professor Tuifuisa’a Patila Amosa welcomed the renewal, noting the partnership with Massey University reflects shared commitment to strengthening higher education, research and knowledge exchange.

“We deeply value Massey university’s friendship and partnership and we look forward to strengthen our collaboration in areas of mutual interest and explore new opportunities that will further enhance educational experiences and outcomes of our staff and students”.

Massey Vice Chancellor Professor Pierre Venter also highlighted the importance of continuing the partnership and working together to support Pacific-focused
education, professional and capacity building.
