Happy Tuesday Saints.
Galatians 3:6-9 “ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. UNDERSTAND THEN, THAT THOSE WHO HAVE FAITH ARE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM. SCRIPTURE FORESAW THAT GOD WOULD JUSTIFY THE GENTILES BY FAITH, AND ANNOUNCED THE GOSPEL IN ADVANCE TO ABRAHAM: ‘ALL NATIONS WOULD BE BLESSED THROUGH YOU.’ SO THOSE WHO RELY ON FAITH ARE BLESSED ALONG WITH ABRAHAM, THE MAN OF FAITH.”
The Judaisers were proud and boastful about being descendants of Abraham. He’s the father of the Jewish nation and the first one to be circumcised. They gloried in the fact that they were Abraham’s seed and were circumcised just as he was. They insisted that the Gentiles needed to be circumcised, too, if they were going to be justified before the Lord.
To combat their heretical teaching, the Apostle Paul explained that their father, Abraham, was NOT justified because he was circumcised. He was justified by faith. He BELIEVED GOD, and righteousness was CREDITED to him.
Abraham BELIEVED God long before the law and its rules about circumcision had been given. He was justified not because of the law but because he BELIEVED God. And now, the true CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM, are not those who have been circumcised according to the law, but THOSE WHO HAVE FAITH.
If, like Abraham, you want righteousness to be CREDITED to you, all you have to do is BELIEVE in God.
Have a bit of fun today and sing the old Sunday School song, “Father Abraham had many sons, and many sons had father Abraham. I am one of them, and so are you. So let’s just praise the Lord…”
Have a wonderful day Saints. God bless, and lots’a love,
