There are 4 more days to by-elections and the question of whether there will there be 6 or 7 by-elections this week is yet to be handed down.
The answer will be determined by a court decision to be handed down by the His Honour the Chief Justice Satiu Simativa Perese this afternoon in the eligibility of HRPP candidate – dentist Tuitogamanaia Dr Peniamina Junior Leavai, challenged in Court by FAST candidate Fuiono Tenina Crichton.
Should the Courts determine Tuitogamanaia has rendered service to his EFKS Vaotuua church at Falealupo, then OEC will have 7 by-elections to run.
However should the Courts decide the HRPP candidate does not meet the service to the church criteria, then only 6 by-elections are held this week.
Fuiono would remain the only candidate, and the seat would therefore be uncontested. Meaning FAST would go into the by-elections with a 28 majority of Parliament.
All will be known this afternoon when the decision is handed down by the Supreme Court.
