2 young men have been sentenced to serve time at Tanumalala Prison, after being caught on camera attacking staff and stealing from a supermarket at Lotopa.

Paul Loloua and Shawn Sipaiki pleaded guilty to charges of theft, robbery and assault when they appeared in front of Justice Vui Clarence Nelson early this week.

Supermarket surveillance video, which was circulated on social media, recorded the pair entering the store with their heads and faces covered. It then shows Loloua grabbing an employee and covering her mouth while attempting to open the cash register. Sipaika is seen walking out with a packet of Pall Mall cigarettes and bottle of soda.

Justice Vui Clarence Nelson expressed, “Crimes of this nature have been increasing, and  the Court needs to implement serious punishment to eradicate these types of crimes.”
Paul Loloua will serve 3 years at Tanumalala Prison for assault, while Shawn Sipaiki faces 12 months.
