Two prominent local musical artists are among 32 individuals arrested following a series of targeted narcotics operations executed by the Samoa Ministry of Police, Prisons and Corrections.
The mug shots of Sapphire Esera, and Lena Bennington are posted on the Samoa Police and Prisons social media page along with the other 30 arrests.
Ms. Esera, 34, of Afiamalu and Afega is an emerging local Samoan singer known for her traditional and contemporary Pacific island music.
Her musical releases include:
- “Tusa Pe Tigā (Alofa Natia 3)”: Released as a single, this is one of her most well-known original tracks.
- “Faleolo Le Malae O Loimata”: A popular standalone single released in early 2025.
- “Suga Mo A’u”: A collaborative single featuring J-Kallen.
- “Manatua Le Alofa”: A duet recorded alongside artist Fata Solomona.
- “Ua Ou Fiu i Au Amio”: A collaborative feature song with Bill Iusi.
The other female artist, Ms. Lena Bennington, 31, of Matautu Tai and Lotopa started her career as a local singer two years ago.
She is known by her songs “Faamanatu mo Oe ma Ita” as well as “Alofa ua Melea” on Youtube.
Both suspects are remanded in custody until their first appearance in Court next week.
There were 11 female arrests out of 32 from the recent police raids between the 16th of June – 23rd of July.
