The Samoa Police are calling for information from the public to locate a black Toyota Vanguard suspected in the small island nation’s first ever reported drive-by shooting.

Someone from the vehicle fired at people as it drove past, injuring a 21 year old, according to witnesses.

Police say witnesses were only able to ascertain the first part of the vehicle’s number plate: R5….

The R indicating the vehicle has been registered by the Land Transport Authority, to a rental car company.

The black Toyota Vanguard is a popular brand of second hand vehicle in Samoa – with over a hundred having been imported by various second-hand dealers in recent years.

Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services is requesting information from the general public in relation to an incident that occurred at Sinamoga on Saturday night 16 March 2024, at around 11pm. Witnesses stated that a driver upon arriving at Sinamoga crossing near the Sinamoga Methodist Church discharged a firearm and as a result injured a 21 year old of Sinamoga. The 21 year old is currently being treated at the Motootua Hospital.

🚔 Police are looking for information in relation to a black VANGUARD vehicle with plate number starting with R.5, witnesses were not able to ascertain the rest of the plate number.
