4 April 2022 MOH Daily Update Apia Samoa. The Ministry of Health’s daily public update confirms the additional covid-related death from Savaii announced last night.
There are 164 new community cases recorded by MOH in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of community cases detected since 17th March to 2,443.
Of the 164 new cases, just one was recorded in Savaii, taking the Savaii total from 56 yesterday to 57 today. There have been no patients admitted to ICU since the pandemic despite the two deaths.
According to the Ministry, 927 people have fully recovered, leaving a total of 1,514 active cases in the community.
There are an additional 11 cases of elderly over 65 years and an additional 4 between 60-64.
There are an additional 8 babies under 4 years of age.



The majority of cases as noted since the start of the outbreak, fall between 15-35 though a marked increase in the age groups between 36-55 is noted.
The Ministry reports 23,419 RATs have been administered to date. With 2,443 detected cases, the positivity rate is 10.4% – up slightly from 10% yesterday.
Twelve people are currently being isolated at the Moto’otua National Hospital, up 3 from 9 yesterday.
Today’s report also includes 4 additional historical cases from the repatriation flight, NZ990 from Auckland New Zealand arrived on March 29, 2022 and brings the total number of cases at the border since November 2020 to 56.
“These cases are not considered active and therefore not included in the active cases total number,” said the Ministry in its release.
